Convergys Philippines hiring 3,600 more Workers

The rapid growth overseas comes as the company seeks to change the terms of its $52 million incentive agreement with the city of Cincinnati that requires it to keep at least 1,400 workers here.


The expansion in the Philippines will raise the company’s workforce in the Southeast Asian nation to 25,000 by the end of the year, reports said.

“Drawing upon the outstanding service and support Convergys employees in the Philippines provide to our clients around the globe, in addition to the continued demand from these clients to house their customer support in the Philippines, it was only logical that we expand our existing capacities,” country manager Marife Zamora told the Manila Bulletin and other news outlets.

Convergys employs just over 1,400 at its headquarters in Cincinnati. Under the 2003 incentive agreement with the city, the company must keep at least that many workers downtown or face a $1 million fine.
